New Nuno Scarf

I bought some gorgeous hand dyed merino wool at the Knitting and Stitching show last week.
Here it is laid out on white silk.
After felting the wool shrinks giving the silk wonderful texture and bubbles.
I love the effect on the reverse too.

Autumn 2013 scarf ideas....

So I think they call this task avoidance....

What I should be doing is getting some more bits ready for Bucks Open Studios but I couldn't resist having a bit of a play and making some samples of ideas I have for scarves for later in the year.

For the first one I carded my own colour mix of merino wool (lavender inspired) then made a holey cobweb felt.

For the second it's a network nuno. Turquoise silk chiffon with thin strips of merino wool laid out in a grid. I love the way the silk crinkles up when the wool shrinks.

Definite potential I think!

Heart Commission for Emerald Framing and Gallery, Chalfont St Peter.

Just finished this purple/blue heart. It is a commission for a birthday present and will soon be winging its way to a special lady.
It is made from soft merino wool with angelina fibre for sparkle and silk fibres for added luxury. The buttons are real mother of pearl vintage buttons which shine with the same colours as the wool.
It is more purple than the pictures show, why is it so hard to photograph a true purple colour?!
I hope she likes it.

Beret, scarf and flower commission.

As promised here are pictures:-

Can you spot the theme??  The scarf had little poppies hand sewn on the bottom (both sides) to add dimension and tiny seed beads in the centre of each.
